Self-Advocacy: Introduction
The primary emphasis of the GAP program is personal responsibility and self-advocacy. This means that you should be fully responsible for your communication access needs and have the ability to advocate for them as early as possible but most certainly by the time you graduate from high school. To gain this knowledge and accompanying skills, there is much to learn. Start this section by completing the Self-Advocacy Checklist and the Accommodations Letter. Be sure to explore the employment and college areas for useful information about workplace challenges and solutions and getting ready for college.
